Barcelona: determined to do better
My less-than-satisfying season debut in Bahrein (a retirement and a 20th place) is in the rearview mirror, and I can’t wait to be racing in Barcelona. I have faith in my abilities and I have a great desire to show my worth, but without putting too much pression on myself. The GP2 championship travels back to Europe, an I’m glad that the next race will take place on a track as challenging and spectacular as the one in Catalonia. The first race of 2015 hasn’t been great, but I prefer to think positive: the car has given me several interesting answers, I have finished the qualifying rounds in the top five, and the many laps I have accumulated have been precious for fine-tuning. It wasn’t wasted time and I intend to capitalise on this work in Barcelona. A bit of luck would be welcome, too… I certainly hadn’t in race 1 in Bahrein where a contact deprived me of points that were already in the pocket. But complaining is pointless: these things happen in races, were drivers fight furiously in tight spaces. The only thing to do now is turn the page and put a check in the win column.

Barcellona: una gran voglia di rivincita
Ormai digerito il poco felice debutto stagionale in Bahrein (un ritiro e un 20° posto che non possono certo farmi felice), riparto nel weekend da Barcellona. E non vedo l’ora! Lo faccio nella piena consapevolezza dei miei mezzi e con una gran voglia di rivincita, ma senza mettermi addosso inutili pressioni. La GP2 torna in Europa ed è bello farlo su un circuito spettacolare e impegnativo come quello catalano. La prima uscita del 2015 non è stata granché, è vero, però a me piace pensare positivo: ci sono state anche diverse risposte particolarmente interessanti da parte della macchina, ho chiuso le Qualifiche nei primi 5 e ho comunque inanellato giri preziosi per la messa a punto. Non è stato affatto tempo sprecato e a Barcellona intendo stare davanti, sfruttando anche il lavoro svolto negli Emirati. E spero anche di avere un po’ più fortuna… Il riferimento va al contatto subito in gara-1, quando ero saldamente in zona punti. Ma inutile lamentarsi, è andata come è andata. Le gare sono anche questo, c’è spesso una lotta furibonda che si sviluppa in pochi centimetri e bisogna accettare anche che capiti questo tipo di incidente. Ripeto: ora si tratta di voltare pagina e portare a casa il risultato. Io sono pronto.
