GP2 Series – Budapest, 25-27 July
Marciello came back from his trip to the Hungaroring track (Budapest) with a 19th place and a 9th place. In race 1, a possible victory chance was thwarted by a series of problems during a frenetic phase before the pit-stop. Before entering the pitlane, Marciello had a lead of only 20 cm on the pilot behind him as he reached the line that forbids overtaking when the safety car is deployed. As he entered the pitlane he couldn’t activate the rev limiter, and broke the 80 km/h speed limit. He lost the lead because of the drive-through resulting from the second infringement, and also received a 20 second penalty for the first error, which cost him the 8th place he had taken. On Sunday Marciello, who started 19th on the grid, accomplished a spectacular comeback: he finished 8th, and was at least able to shake things up in the Championship’s standings.

Un 19º e un 9º posto sono il bilancio finale della trasferta sul circuito dell’Hungaroring (Budapest). Nella prima corsa un possibile successo è stato vanificato da un doppio problema nelle concitate fasi che hanno preceduto il pit-stop. Prima di imboccare la pit-lane Raffaele aveva un vantaggio di solo 20 cm sul pilota che lo seguiva alla linea che vieta il sorpasso in regime di safety car. Una volta entrato nella corsia dei box non è riuscito ad azionare il limitatore di velocità, superando il limite degli 80 km/h. Marciello ha così perso il comando della corsa a causa di un drive-through assegnatogli per la seconda infrazione, mentre al termine della prova è arrivata anche una penalità di 20 secondi per il primo errore, che ha così vanificato l’ottavo piazzamento. Domenica, scattato 19º Raffaele si è reso protagonista di una splendida rimonta che lo ha condotto fino all’8ª posizione che gli ha perlomeno permesso di smuovere la classifica generale.
