The bitter aftertaste of the first GP2 weekend

The first weekend of races of the GP2 season, in Bahrein, wasn’t one to remember. On the contrary. After having obtained the fifth place in the qualifying sessions, I started race 1 well, gaining a position and settling comfortably in the top section of the standings. Sadly, after a few laps, a crash ended my hopes of beginning the season with a good result. During Sunday’s sprint race I have, like many of my colleagues, been held back by tire degradation. Just a few laps before the end of the race, the team called me in for a pit stop and to exchange my tires for a set of option soft. This stop left me in the 20th position, but it also allowed me to test the stability of the car on soft tires and to collect useful data for the next races. My mind is already focused on the next GP2 stage, which will take place in Barcelona a few weeks from today.
