Marciello pushed hard in the Abu Dhabi Ferrari test

“Am I happy? Of course I am!” a thrilled Raffaele Marciello told us after the official Ferrari tests in Abu Dhabi. He was given the opportunity to drive the 2014 Ferrari F1 car and he made the most of it, accomplishing 91 laps without encountering problems. He was second quickest in the test behind Pascal Wehrle, a promising young driver from the Mercedes team, and in front of Max Verstappen, the 17 years old prodigy who will drive for Toro Rosso next season.

“I wanted to show my skills and I am really pleased. It was a dream come true. I did a lot of kilometres, I worked hard for the team, and I still had 4 or 5 tenths of margin – not bad considering it was my first experience with a F1 car. Could I become Ferrari’s third driver? I hope so, but it’s not only up to me…”

Lello didn’t forget to send a thought to his friend Jules Bianchi, who was badly injured in a crash in Suzuka: “It is impossible not to think of him. We entered the Ferrari Academy at the same time, and one of the reasons I’m here today is that Jules is not. From Jules I learned to always push hard, which is why it was so important to do so today.”
