A starring role in Russia
Before traveling to Russia I said that I had a good feeling about Sochi, and that I knew I could aim high. I couldn’t, therefore, be more satisfied with the wonderful third place I obtained at the sprint-race on Sunday, thus securing my third podium of the season. This result also allowed me to climb to 74 points in the championship standings and to strengthen my position within the top 8. It has been a good weekend, also considering Saturday’s sixth place and the seventh place I took in qualifying. My performances were solid, a mix of aggression and precision, with the added bonus of a few spectacular overtakings on a track where I knew I would have the opportunity to showcase my technical abilities. During the course of the whole weekend I was feeling confident and at ease, and the team and I didn’t run into and particularly problems. The GP2 now takes a month-long break, and will be back on November 19th for the Bahrein stage. It is a pity that such an extended lull has to take place in a moment when I feel in top form. But such are the rules of the game, and it is up to us drivers to keep the motor running even during periods when there are no races. Until next time!

Protagonista in Russia
In sede di presentazione del weekend di gara in Russia, lo avevo detto: le sensazioni erano positive e sapevo di poter puntare in alto. E così è stato! Sono molto soddisfatto. A Sochi ho infatti centrato uno splendido 3º posto nella sprint-race di domenica, portandomi a casa il terzo podio stagionale. Con questo risultato ho anche consolidato la mia posizione nei top 8 della classifica generale, dove ho per ora raccolto 74 punti. Un ottimo weekend, quindi, considerato anche il 6º posto del sabato e il 7º rango delle qualifiche. Credo di aver offerto prestazioni molto solide, mescolando aggressività e freddezza, offrendo anche qualche spettacolare sorpasso su un circuito che ben si prestava a mettere in luce le doti tecniche dei piloti. Devo dire che in Russia mi sono subito sentito a mio agio e su tutto l’arco del weekend non abbiamo avuto particolari problemi, portando a casa due risultati positivi. La GP2 ora si ferma un mese per tornare soltanto il 19 novembre quando farà tappa in Barhain. Una pausa molto lunga ed è un po’ un peccato perché sto attraversando un buon momento di forma. Ma le regole del gioco sono queste e spetta a noi piloti mantenere alto il regime del motore anche in periodi privi di gare. Alla prossima!
