RAFFAELE’S RACE TIME CUT SHORT BY YET ANOTHER BROCKEN CLUTCH
For the third time in an all but unlucky start of the 2019 season, Marciello has been let down by his faithful Mercedes AMG GT3 – which once again suffered from mechanical issues. This time it happened on the Nordschleife track, where Raffaele was preparing for the 24H that will take place there on June 23rd alongside teammate Hohenadel (the car, a yellow GT3 sponsored by MANN-FILTER, had been provided by Team HTP). The preparation took the form of a long weekend consisting of free sessions and qualifying sessions culminating in a 6H race: Marciello performed well and gained entry to the TOP 30 Qualifying session, in which he finished 14th – a good result considering that Raffaele was driving carefully because of the rain and because he was still in the process of developing a good feeling with the car. Hohenadel was first behind the wheel in the race, and drove for the first hour and a half (oscillating between the 10th and 20th place) before handing the GT3 to the Ticino driver. Unfortunately, Raffaele’s precious race time (in view of the forthcoming 24H race) was cut short by yet another broken clutch.
Marciello’s next challenge now awaits in France, where the 1000km Paul Ricard race – the third stage of the Blancpain Endurance series – will take place in two weeks.

GARA FINITA A POCO PIU’ DI DUE ORE DAL VIA A CAUSA DELLA ROTTURA DEL CAMBIO
Ulteriore ritiro per una noia meccanica per Raffaele Marciello. Questo 2019 sembra davvero ostile alle Mercedes AMG GT3 che, per la terza volta, hanno abbandonato il forte pilota Ticinese nel corso delle sue gare. Nel week-end appena trascorso, si è scesi in pista sul lungo circuito del Nordschleife in una gara in preparazione alla 24H del Nordschleife
che si correrà il prossimo ventitré Giugno. Il Team HTP ha messo a disposizione la propria Mercedes AMG GT3 a Marciello e Hohenadel per affrontare questo week-end di gara caratterizzato da una competizione dalla durata di ben sei ore. Da Venerdì si è scesi in pista in quello che ormai è l’abituale clima di questo circuito tra pioggia e nebbia, percorrendo numerose tornate lungo l’impervio anello verde. Tra Sabato e Domenica mattina il lavoro è proseguito con ulteriori prove libere e due sessioni di qualificazione che hanno permesso l’accesso alla vettura di Marciello nella TOP 30 Qualifying, sessione riservata alle trenta vetture più rapide in pista. Nel corso della qualifica TOP 30, il volante è stato preso da Raffaele che si è classificato in quattordicesima posizione, non trovando un feeling totale con la vettura e cercando di evitare errori sotto la pioggia che ha caratterizzato questa sessione.
Il via della gara è stato successivamente preso da Hohenadel che ha condotto per la prima ora e mezza di gara oscillando sempre tra la decima e la ventesima posizione, prima di lasciare il volante a Marciello che, poco dopo più di un’ora di guida è stato costretto al ritiro a causa della rottura del cambio della gialla vettura MANN-FILTER. Peccato per questo ulteriore ritiro per noie meccaniche che ha impedito di portare a termine un lungo week-end di gara che sarebbe stato molto utile in preparazione a lunga maratona di fine Giugno.
Il prossimo appuntamento per Marciello è tra due settimane per la 1000km del Paul Ricard, terzo appuntamento della serie Blancpain Endurance.
