NURBURGRING LANGSTRECKEN SERIE
MARCIELLO BACK ON THE NORDSCHLEIFE IN PREPARATION FOR SEPTEMBER’S 24H
After a busy week of tests at Spa Francorchamps and Nurburgring (in preparation for the GT World Challenge and the Adac GT Master), Raffaele Marciello spent the weekend at the insidious Nordschleife track, where he competed in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie. The event, which consists in two races, serves as a training ground for the world famous 24H which will take place on September 24-27. Marciello joined Team Getspeed on Friday, and jumped behind the wheel of the fluorescent Mercedes AMG GT3 no 2 for a day of tests on wet.
On Saturday he sat out the first race in order to allow teammates Buhk, Götz and Schiller to have more time on a track they were less familiar with than the Ticino driver. Marciello’s good feeling with the Nordschleife was evident during the next day’s qualifying session, in which he finished fourth, a mere six tenths from the pole (an impressive feat considered that he was hindered by heavy traffic during his best laps). Götz started the race, kept the fourth place, then sped up to third right behind a Ferrari and the other Mercedes AMG GT3 on the track; the pit-stop strategy chosen by the team, however, sent him back to fourth. Marciello took the wheel at the 2 hour mark and drove during the next two: he won a position, fell back to seventh after a pit stop, and fought his way up to fifth thanks to a last-second overtaking of the Audi in front.
Marciello will be back on the track on July 24-26 at Imola, where he will join team AKKA-ASP for the first stage of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance.

MARCIELLO TORNA SUL NORDSCHLEIFE IN PREPARAZIONE ALLA 24H DI FINE SETTEMBRE
Raffaele Marciello é tornato in pista nel corso del weekend presso il tracciato del Nordschleife. É stata una settimana movimentata quella di Raffaele che dopo due sessioni di Test a Spa Francorchamps e al Nurburgring, rispettivamente in preparazione al GT World Challenge e all’Adac GT Master, é ritornato sul lungo e insidioso tracciato del Nordschleife per le due gare consecutive del NLS, il Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie.
Come la corsa precedentemente svolta, anche questo weekend era interamente incentrato alla preparazione della 24H del Nordschleife che si correrà dal 24 al 27 Settembre prossimo. Il weekend di Marciello con il Team Getspeed e la fluorescente Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 2 é iniziato con una giornata di test, bagnata, il Venerdì. La prima corsa del weekend, svoltasi il Sabato, ha visto Raffaele lasciare spazio ai compagni di squadra Buhk, Götz e Schiller, maggiormente bisognosi di preparazione sul tortuoso circuito Tedesco, da sempre molto esigente in termini di adattamento. La seconda corsa del weekend si é svolta la Domenica, con Marciello come al solito protagonista sin dalle prove di qualificazione, piazzandosi in quarta piazza a sei decimi dalla pole position, complice l’elevato traffico trovato nei giri migliori. Il via della corsa ha visto Götz scattare dalla quarta piazza e mantenere la posizione nelle fasi iniziali. Il Tedesco è poi riuscito a portarsi in terza posizione alle spalle della Ferrari e della gemella Mercedes AMG GT3. Dopo il rifornimento, Götz ha continuato anche per la seconda ora di guida, trovandosi in quarta piazza a seguito della strategia pit-stop adottata.
A due ore dal termine il volante é passato a Marciello che, rientrato in pista, ha condotto la terza ora di gara in quarta posizione, per poi portarsi in terza piazza con un sorpasso. L’ultima ora di gara ha visto sempre Raffaele alla guida, rientrante in settima piazza dopo il pit stop e terminando in quinta posizione finale, con un sorpasso al fotofinish sull’Audi che lo precedeva.
Concluso questo weekend di gara, Marciello tornerà in pista il 24-26 Luglio per il primo appuntamento del GT World Challenge Europe Endurance presso il circuito Italiano di Imola con il Team AKKA-ASP.
