FIRST 2020 PODIUM FOR MARCIELLO THANKS TO A THIRD PLACE AT NORDSCHLEIFE
After the long break caused by the COVID pandemic, Mercedes-AMG Factory Driver Raffaele Marciello was finally able to get back behind the wheel of a Mercedes AMG
GT3. After a day of tests at Nurburgring’s GT track with Team HTP-Winward (in preparation for the German Adac GT Master championship), Raffaele took to the track on Friday on Team Getspeed’s fluorescent Mercedes AMG GT3 no. 2 for a test session at Nordschleife. Raffaele’s program with team Getspeed for 2020 focuses only on the long German track, which will host its famous 24H at the end of September and a series of NLS series races (previously known as VLN) which will allow drivers and teams to prepare for the 24H (in addition to this, Marciello’s commitments with other teams in the GT World Challenge Sprint and Endurance, in the Adac GT Master, and in the Intercontinental GT Challenge are confirmed).
The first NLS event took place on Saturday and saw Marciello team up with Schiller and Buhk behind the wheel of the no. 2. The morning’s qualifying sessions helped them warm up, and Marciello, who drove last, managed to win the team a fourth place thanks to a lap that could have been perfect but was affected by the presence of slower cars on the track (Marciello’s time was a mere 1.3 seconds away from a pole, almost nothing considered that a full lap takes 8 minutes to complete).
Raffaele drove first in the four hour race and immediately won a position; he then sped up to second place by overtaking a BMW M6 GT3. After an hour he handed the wheel to Buhk, who finished his stint in the lead. Schiller, up next, was back on the track in third place as a result of the pit stop strategy: he drove at a normal pace and kept his position until the end.
After celebrating his first 2020 podium, Marciello is already at work and looking forward to the next NLS races, which will take place on the weekend of July 11-12 at Nordschleife, in preparation for the 24H.

PRIMO PODIO DEL 2020 PER MARCIELLO: TERZO POSTO SUL CIRCUITO DEL NORDSCHLEIFE
Terminata la lunga pausa causata dal COVID-‐19, il Factory Driver Mercedes-AMG Raffaele Marciello é finalmente potuto tornare alla guida della Mercedes AMG GT3.
Dopo aver svolto una giornata di test presso il circuito GP del Nurburgring con il Team HTP-Winward, in preparazione al campionato Tedesco Adac GT Master, Raffaele é sceso in pista nella giornata di Venerdì con la fluorescente Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 2 del Team Getspeed per una sessione di test presso il lungo tracciato del Nordschleife.
Il programma di Marciello per la stagione 2020 con il Team Getspeed si concentra esclusivamente sul tracciato del Nordschleife, con l’importante 24H di fine Settembre ed alcune gare nella serie NLS
(precedentemente denominata VLN), volte a preparare al meglio la 24H (a latere di ciò sono confermati i programmi nel GT World Challenge Sprint ed Endurance, l’Adac GT Master e l’Intercontinental GT Challenge con altri Team).
Il primo appuntamento del NLS si é svolto nella giornata di Sabato ed ha visto l’effervescente vettura numero 2 del Team Getspeed scendere in pista con Marciello coadiuvato dai compagni Schiller e Buhk.
In mattinata si sono svolte le prove di qualificazione, che sono servite al trio di piloti per rompere il ghiaccio con la ripresa delle competizioni.
Nella fase finale delle qualifiche il volante é stato preso dal più rapido dei tre, Marciello, che é riuscito a piazzarsi in quarta posizione assoluta, con un giro pressoché perfetto ma leggermente rovinato dal traffico di alcune vetture di categorie più lente (il distacco dalla pole position é stato solamente di 1.3 secondi su un giro di ben otto minuti totali).
La gara, dalla durata di quattro ore, ha visto Raffaele, impegnato nelle fasi di partenza, che è riuscito a guadagnare una posizione. Nel corso della prima ora di guida Raffaele é poi risalito sino alla seconda piazza con un bel sorpasso sulla BMW M6 GT3 mentre si trovava in terza posizione. A tre ore dal termine, la condotta é passata al Tedesco Buhk che ha concluso il proprio stint in testa
alla corsa.
É stata poi la volta di Schiller che é rientrato in pista in terza posizione per un gioco di strategie pit-stop. Anche l’ultima ora ha visto Schiller al volante che con tempi nella norma ha chiuso la corsa in terza piazza.
Primo podio dunque per Raffaele, che scenderà nuovamente in pista nelle prossime settimane per sessioni di Test e tornerà in gara il weekend del 11-12 Luglio per altre due gare del campionato NLS in preparazione alla 24H del Nordschleife.
