A POLE AND A PODIUM FOR MARCIELLO IN THE 24H OF NURBURGRING
After a long preparation, Marciello arrived at Nurburgring filled with confidence, ready to compete in the most important Endurance race of the year for German manufacturers: the famous 24H. Raffaele, in his official AMG driver role, shared duties behind the wheel of Team HRT’s Mercedes AMG GT3 no 4 with teammates Stolz, Ellis, and Mortara.
Thanks to the good results obtained in the qualifying races, the team had already secured the “blue light” – the access to Friday’s superpole, reserved to the 19 fastest cars. The team therefore used the sessions before the superpole to polish the final details in preparation for the big event.
Raffaele dominated in the superpole, obtaining an extraordinary pole position and establishing a new record.
In the race that followed, he kept the lead during the first laps before having to surrender to the higher pace of the Ferraris and Lamborghinis behind him. He fought his way back to second, but suffered a 30 seconds penalty because of a violation committed during the previous pit-stop. He then handed the wheel to Stolz, who defended the second place before passing the baton to Mortara. The Swiss, who hadn’t raced in the 24H for a long time, fell back to 5th before handing the wheel to Ellis. The German gained one position, then a mistake sent him into a tailspin which luckily didn’t end in a heavy collision with the guardrail. Marciello, up next, went on the offensive, and narrowed the gap with the cars in front. Stolz and Ellis shared duties behind the wheel during the night, then Marciello, at dawn, sped up to third thanks to a beautiful overtaking. Two hours later, Stolz got back on the track in fourth but gained the position back before the end of his stint. Marciello, then secured the position, and Stolz, who drove during the last two hours, crossed the finish line in third – behind two faster cars, a Ferrari and a BWM, and first among the Mercedes in the race.
After this well-deserved podium, Marciello will take part in the official tests in preparation for the 24H of Spa-Francorchamps, then he will travel to Donington for the second stage of the British GT.

POLE POSITION E PODIO PER RAFFAELE MARCIELLO ALLA 24H DEL NURBURGRING
Dopo una lunga preparazione per quello che è considerato l’evento più importante dell’anno in ambito Endurance per i costruttori Tedeschi, Raffaele Marciello è giunto sul lungo e tecnico circuito del Nurburgring per correre la 24H. Il Ticinese ha preso parte all’evento come portacolori di Mercedes-AMG a bordo della gialla Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 4 del Team HRT assieme ai compagni Stolz, Ellis e Mortara. Grazie al lavoro svolto nelle precedenti gare di qualificazione, l’equipaggio aveva già ottenuto la blue light sinonimo di accesso diretto alla superpole di Venerdì. Le sessioni antecedenti la superpole sono state utilizzate pertanto dalla squadra per affinare gli ultimi dettagli in preparazione al grande evento.
Dopo le varie sessioni di qualificazione, é giunto il momento della superpole, sessione riservata alle diciannove vetture più veloci in pista per contendersi la pole position; Raffaele Marciello si é imposto sull’intera concorrenza con una pole position straordinaria, stabilendo anche il record assoluto su questo tracciato.
In gara, la partenza ha visto Raffaele mantenere la prima posizione per i primi giri, prima di retrocedere in quarta posizione a causa dello strapotere di Lamborghini e Ferrari, molto più rapide sul dritto.Recuperato sino alla seconda posizione, ha poi dovuto una scontare una penalità di trenta secondi al pit stop a causa di una irregolarità commessa nel pit stop precedente. Lasciato il volante a Stolz, il Tedesco ha condotto in seconda posizione per poi lasciare il volante a Mortara. Lo svizzero, a digiuno da questa gara da parecchio tempo, é scivolato in quinta piazza lasciando poi le redini a Ellis. Il Tedesco si é portato in quarta piazza prima di commettere un errore andando in testacoda senza fortunatamente toccare pesantemente il rail. Con la macchina non pesantemente danneggiata, ha poi continuato Marciello che é entrato in pista con il coltello tra i denti recuperando parecchio distacco con la testa della corsa. Salito Stolz, si é alternato al volante nella notte con Ellis stabilizzando la quarta posizione, prima di lasciare il volante a Marciello all’alba che, con un bel sorpasso, si é portato in terza posizione. Dopo due ore, Stolz é tornato alla guida, uscendo dai box però in quarta posizione ma recuperando il terzo posto nel corso del proprio stint. Tornato al volante Marciello a quattro ore dal termine, non ha fatto altro che mettere al sicuro il terzo posto, posizione portata a casa dal compagno Stolz nelle ultime due ore di gara. Si conclude dunque con il podio questa 24H del Nurburgring per Raffaele Marciello, primo tra le vetture Mercedes AMG e sul terzo gradino del podio dietro alle velocissime Ferrari e BMW che meglio hanno gestito il Balance of Performance nascondendosi sin dalle prime sessioni di qualificazione.
Terminato questo appuntamento, Raffaele tornerà in pista tra due giorni per i test ufficiali in preparazione alla 24H di Spa-Francorchamps per poi recarsi direttamente a Donington per il secondo appuntamento del British GT.
