ANOTHER COMPLICATED WEEKEND FOR MARCIELLO IN THE ADAC GT MASTERS AS THE TEAM STRUGGLES TO KEEP UP WITH THE COMPETITION
Fresh off a pole and a victory in Misano, Marciello joined Team HTP Winward and his teammate Philip Ellis in Germany for the second stage of the ADAC GT Masters. After a day of private tests on the Nurburgring, Friday’s free sessions showed signals that the weekend could be an uphill battle. Raffaele excelled in both sessions but the Mercedes AMG GT3 no 48 did not: the team struggled with the tuning and the car couldn’t match the performance of the opposition, Mercedes and other manufacturers alike.
On Saturday’s qualifying, Ellis finished tenth and placed the no 48 on the 5th line in the starting grid. In the race that followed, he started well and sprinted up to seventh before handing the wheel to Marciello with 30 minutes to go. The Ticino driver got back on the track in eight and fought his way up to sixth – a positive result considering the difficulties the team had had.
On Sunday it was Marciello’s turn to drive in qualifying: sadly, the car’s unsatisfactory performance kept him from aiming for the top places, and he had to settle for 14th. In the race he navigated a complicated first phase well and climbed up to 12th, then had to fight to stay there – an unusual situation for Raffaele, who is accustomed to jousting for the higher positions. He then switched seats with Ellis, who got back on the track in 11th and managed to finish ninth.
Raffaele can now enjoy a few days of deserved rest, before his hectic schedule will take him back to Nurburgring for the GT World Challenge Endurance on September 5-6.

ALTRO WEEK‐END NON FACILE PER MARCIELLO NELL’ADAC GT MASTERS: TEAM IN NOTEVOLE AFFANNO RISPETTO LA CONCORRENZA
Nuova settimana di corse per Raffaele Marciello che, dopo la pole position e vittoria di Misano, si é diretto al Nurburgring per il secondo appuntamento dell’Adac GT Masters. Ad attenderlo, come ormai di prassi nel campionato Tedesco, il Team HTP Winward con la Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 48 assieme al compagno Philip Ellis. Dopo una giornata di test privati nella giornata di Giovedì, il Venerdì hanno preso il via le prove libere dove Marciello ha dato il meglio di sé ma, come durante il primo appuntamento, il Team HTP Winward ha faticato non poco nella messa a punto del mezzo che, in entrambe le sessioni, é parso ben lontano dall’essere competitivo rispetto la concorrenza di altri marchi ma anche rispetto alle vetture Mercedes AMG gemelle di altri Team.
Sabato mattina nella qualifica valida per la prima gara del weekend, Philip Ellis non é riuscito ad andare oltre la decima posizione, relegando dunque la Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 48 in quinta fila per la gara del pomeriggio. In gara, nelle fasi di partenza, Ellis con una bella mossa é riuscito a portarsi in settima posizione prima di lasciare il volante a Marciello a trenta minuti dal termine. Raffaele, rientrato in pista in ottava piazza, con il coltello tra i denti è riuscito a risalire sino al sesto posto finale, piazzamento non ottimale ma positivo rispetto alla potenzialità del mezzo messo a disposizione dal Team. Domenica mattina é stata la volta di Marciello nel turno di qualificazione: con grande rammarico Raffaele si é piazzato in quattordicesima posizione, ennesimo segnale del gap prestazionale tra la propria vettura e quella degli avversari in testa, avversari che in tutti gli altri campionati é solito distaccare alle proprie spalle. Nella gara del pomeriggio, Raffaele, in una partenza molto concitata, é riuscito a portarsi in dodicesima posizione, battagliando poi per la restante mezz’ora in quella parte della classifica, situazione mai vista per il Ticinese che ha sempre combattuto nella parte alta della classifica. A mezz’ora dal termine il volante é passato ad Ellis che, rientrato in undicesima posizione, ha chiuso la corsa in nona piazza.
Concluso questo appuntamento, finalmente qualche giorno di riposo per Raffaele che tornerà in pista i prossimi 5-6 Settembre per l’appuntamento del GT World Challenge Endurance sempre sul tracciato del Nurburgring.
