RAFFAELE MARCIELLO READY TO DEFEND HIS TITLE IN THE GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE ENDURANCE CUP
With one foot in the prototypes world and the other in his beloved GT category, Raffaele is gearing up for what looks to be a very busy 2024 season. The 29 year-old has put an end to his Mercedes chapter (he was part of their GT program from 2017 to 2023) and will defend BMW’s colours in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup – of which he is the current champion. He will join Team WRT, the most successful team in the competition’s history, and battle for the title at the wheel of their BMW M4 GT3 alongside Maxime Martin and Valentino Rossi. The championship consists of 5 stages, including the world-famous 24 Hours of Spa, which Marciello won in 2022, and will kick off on April 7th with the Paul Ricard 500 km at Le Catellet.
In addition to the Endurance Cup, Marciello has already announced his participation in the Endurance World Championship with BMW M Motorsport; he will share duties at the wheel of their M Hybrid V8 no 15 with Dries Vanthoor and Marco Wittman. He will also compete in the 12H of Bathurst, the first stage of the Intercontinental GT Challenge 2024 – one of the most important races of the year, as well as Marciello’s official debut as a BMW driver. Raffaele, racing alongside Martin and Rossi, will do his best to improve on the third place obtained in 2023 and place Team WRT’s M4 GT3 at the top of the podium.
Last but not least, Marciello will once again compete in the British GT Championship (in which he debuted last year) with team Ram Racing and teammate John Ferguson, and will participate in the 24H of Nurburgring with Rowe Racing.
RAFFAELE MARCIELLO PRONTO A DIFENDERE IL TITOLO NELL’ ENDURANCE CUP DEL GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE
Dal nuovo impegno nel mondo dei prototipi all’amata categoria Gran Turismo, l’annata 2024 di Raffaele Marciello sarà ricca di impegni. Il ventinovenne svizzero, nato a Zurigo e trasferitosi a Lugano, che nel corso di questa stagione difenderà i colori di BMW dopo essere stato parte del programma Gran Turismo Mercedes dal 2017 al 2023, sarà nuovamente ai nastri di partenza del GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup per difendere il titolo conquistato lo scorso anno. Marciello sarà al via di uno dei campionati Gran Turismo più famosi al mondo con Team WRT, la compagine più vincente nella storia della serie, e condividerà la loro BMW M4 GT3 numero 46 con Maxime Martin e Valentino Rossi, dando vita a un equipaggio sicuramente capace di lottare per il titolo nel corso della stagione. Il campionato prevede cinque appuntamenti tra cui la 24 Ore di Spa, rinomata corsa di durata che Marciello ha già vinto nel 2022. Il primo appuntamento della serie sarà il 7 aprile a Le Castellet per la 500km del Paul Ricard.
La presenza nell’Endurance Cup del GT World Challenge Europe si aggiunge agli impegni già annunciati dal pilota svizzero per la stagione 2024: tra questi spicca la partecipazione al Mondiale Endurance con BMW M Motorsport, dove Marciello sarà al volante della M Hybrid V8 numero 15 insieme a Dries Vanthoor e Marco Wittman per lottare nella classe regina del campionato. Raffaele sarà anche al via della 12 Ore di Bathurst, primo appuntamento dell’Intercontinental GT Challenge 2024 e conosciuta tra le corse di durata più importanti dell’anno. Lello farà dunque il suo debutto ufficiale con BMW in Australia cercando di migliorare il terzo posto ottenuto nel 2023, e come in occasione del GT World Challenge Europe condividerà l’abitacolo della M4 GT3 preparata da Team WRT con Maxime Martin e Valentino Rossi. Da segnalare anche il rinnovato impegno nel British GT Championship dopo il debutto nella passata stagione, con Marciello che andrà a caccia del titolo a bordo della M4 GT3 di Ram Racing al fianco di John Ferguson, e la futura partecipazione alla 24 Ore del Nürburgring con Rowe Racing.
