RAFFAELE MARCIELLO CHASING THE FIA WEC 2024 TITLE
Raffaele Marciello’s 2024 season is slowly starting to take shape, with the Swiss having been announced as the driver of BMW’s M Hybrid V8 no 15 in the FIA WEC. With a long history of 12 previous editions, and the participation of the world’s leading manufacturers, the FIA WEC is the most intense Endurance competition around – and BMW is excited to join it in 2024. For the occasion, it has selected its most expert drivers, including new recruit Marciello, who will be supported by Dries Vanthoor and Marco Wittmann. The trio will clash against Toyotas, Ferraris, Porsches, and Cadillacs in an eight-event competition, which will kick off in Qatar on March 2nd.
The second race will bring Raffaele closer to home, at Imola (which also “debuts” in the FIA WEC as a venue), on April 21st. Marciello will then compete at Spa on may 11th, in the historical 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15th, and at Interlagos (Brazil, which makes its reappearance in the competition) on July 14th. After the summer break, the championship will resume in Austin in the first week of September. Japan is next on September 16, before Bahrain’s grand finale on November 2nd.
After years of hard work and successes in the GT3 category, Raffaele is ready to fight in the top class of the endurance panorama, which sees the participation of Hypercars and LMDhs. The Swiss has already competed in the 24h of Daytona at the wheel of a LMP2, and is confident he and his teammates will help BMW M Motorsport take their BMW M Hybrid V8 model to the top of the motorsport world.
RAFFAELE MARCIELLO ALLA CACCIA DEL TITOLO FIA WEC 2024
Comincia a prendere forma il mosaico della stagione 2024 di Raffaele Marciello. Il pilota svizzero, che da questa stagione difenderà i colori di BMW M Motorsport nel Mondiale Endurance, è stato annunciato alla guida della BMW M Hybrid V8 numero 15 e sarà supportato da Dries Vanthoor e Marco Wittmann. Giunto alla sua tredicesima edizione, il FIA WEC è il campionato di riferimento per le gare Endurance che in questi ultimi anni ha visto la battaglia tra i più grandi costruttori al mondo, a cui proprio nel 2024 si è aggiunta BMW M Motorsport che affidandosi ad esperti piloti del calibro di Raffaele Marciello, andranno a scontrarsi con Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche e Cadillac su un calendario di otto appuntamenti, a partire dal round inaugurale del Qatar, il 2 marzo.
Sarà, poi, la volta della gara di “casa”, per continuità territoriale con la Svizzera, per Lello il 21 aprile ad Imola, che debutta nel calendario del mondiale, per poi affrontare la gare di Spa (11 maggio), la storica 24 Ore di Le Mans il 15 giugno e concludere prima della pausa estiva in Brasile il 14 luglio per il rientro in calendario di Interlagos. La lotta per il titolo riprenderà a Austin, il primo fine settimana di settembre, prima di volare in Giappone, il 16 settembre, e la grande chiusura il 2 novembre in Bahrain.
Dopo anni passati a lottare e vincere con le vetture di classe GT3, questo 2024 rappresenta per Raffaele la possibilità di cimentarsi nella classe di punta del mondiale con gare di durata, che vede lottare nella Top Class le Hypercar e le LMDh con il debutto nella seria della FIA per quanto riguarda il progetto della casa baverese. Per Marciello tuttavia c’era già stato, nel 2023, il debutto nella 24 Ore di Daytona con una LMP2, che sarà una solida base di partenza per puntare con Vanthoor e Wittmann a portare BMW M Motorsport sul tetto del mondo anche col nuovo modello BMW M Hybrid V8.
