RAFFAELE MARCIELLO TRIUMPHS AT THE 6 HOURS OF SÃO PAULO WITH BMW
First FIA WEC victory for Marciello, Kevin Magnussen and Dries Vanthoor after a flawless performance at Interlagos in the FIA World Endurance Championship.
São Paulo, 12 July 2026 – Raffaele Marciello won the Rolex 6 Hours of São Paulo, the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship season. Together with Kevin Magnussen and Dries Vanthoor, driving the #15 BMW M Hybrid V8 for BMW M Team WRT, he crossed the finish line first at Interlagos, securing the crew’s first FIA WEC victory.
The #15 BMW had qualified fourth on the grid in Saturday’s Hyperpole session with a lap time of 1:23.135, just 0.094 seconds behind pole position. When the lights went out, Magnussen quickly moved into the leading positions, overtaking the #38 Cadillac for second place on lap 11 at Ferradura. A delay for the #12 Cadillac during its first pit stop then allowed the BMW to take the virtual lead of the race.
Marciello played a decisive role in the middle phase of the race. During his stint, he gradually closed the gap to the #35 Alpine, which was leading thanks to a different strategy, putting strong pressure on António Félix da Costa. Their battle reached its peak at Turn 4, where the BMW managed to overtake the Alpine and take the lead. Once in front, Marciello maintained a strong pace and extended the advantage.
In the closing stages, Vanthoor completed the job by defending the lead against attacks from the #51 Ferrari 499P and the #12 Cadillac. After 242 laps, the #15 BMW won by 2.254 seconds over the Ferrari and 6.687 seconds over the Cadillac. Overall, the #15 led the race for 90 laps.
The victory at Interlagos represents an important step forward for BMW’s Hypercar programme and confirms the competitiveness of the BMW M Hybrid V8 in the top category of the World Endurance Championship. For Marciello, Magnussen and Vanthoor, it is their first FIA WEC victory.
Marciello described the result as the culmination of three years of development of the project and the work carried out together by BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team WRT.

Thanks to the 25 points scored in Brazil, Marciello and Magnussen move up to 50 points, placing sixth in the Hypercar Drivers’ Championship standings. The FIA World Endurance Championship will return from 4 to 6 September at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, United States.

appuntamento stagionale del FIA World Endurance Championship. Insieme a Kevin Magnussen e Dries Vanthoor, il pilota della BMW M Hybrid V8 #15 del BMW M Team WRT ha tagliato per primo il traguardo di Interlagos, ottenendo la prima vittoria nel FIA WEC per l’equipaggio.
La BMW #15 aveva conquistato la quarta posizione sulla griglia di partenza nella Hyperpole del sabato, con un tempo di 1:23.135, ad appena 94 millesimi dalla pole position. Allo spegnimento dei semafori
Magnussen si è portato rapidamente nelle posizioni di testa, superando la Cadillac #38 per il secondo posto all’undicesimo giro, alla Ferradura. Il ritardo accusato dalla Cadillac #12 durante la prima sosta ha quindi
permesso alla BMW di assumere il comando virtuale della gara.
Marciello ha svolto un ruolo determinante nella fase centrale della competizione. Durante il proprio turno di guida ha progressivamente ridotto il distacco dall’Alpine #35, che si trovava al comando grazie a una
strategia differente, esercitando una forte pressione su António Félix da Costa. Il confronto è culminato in un intenso duello alla curva 4, dove la BMW è riuscita ad avere la meglio ed a passare l’Alpine. Una volta al comando, Marciello ha continuato a mantenere un ritmo elevato allungando il vantaggio.
Nelle battute conclusive, Vanthoor ha completato il lavoro difendendo la leadership dagli attacchi della Ferrari 499P #51 e della Cadillac #12. Dopo 242 giri, la BMW #15 ha vinto con 2,254 secondi di vantaggio sulla Ferrari e con 6,687 secondi sulla Cadillac. Complessivamente, la #15 ha guidato la corsa per 90 giri.
Il successo di Interlagos rappresenta un importante passo in avanti per BMW Hypercar, e conferma la competitività della BMW M Hybrid V8 nella massima categoria del mondiale endurance. Per Marciello, Magnussen e Vanthoor si tratta del primo successo nel FIA WEC.
Marciello ha indicato il risultato come il punto di arrivo di tre anni di crescita del progetto e del lavoro svolto insieme da BMW M Motorsport e BMW M Team WRT.

Grazie ai 25 punti conquistati in Brasile, Marciello e Magnussen salgono a quota 50 punti, occupando la sesta posizione nella classifica piloti Hypercar. Il FIA WEC tornerà in pista dal 4 al 6 settembre al Circuit of The Americas di Austin, negli Stati Uniti.
