A positive weekend in Bahrain

The two days I have spent in Bahrain, where the eleventh stage of the GP2 took place, have ben very positive indeed: I have obtained a 4th place in the feature race and a 5th place in Saturday’s sprint race. During race 1 I have held the second position behind Vandoorne for a long time, before a pit stop pushed me back to fifth. I didn’t give up though, and finished fourth – a placement worth 12 precious points. I started race 2 from the third row and found myself in seventh place; I drove aggressively and attacked a lot, thus earning a satisfactory fifth place – a result that means I have now collected points 12 times in 20 races (including the three times I was on the podium).
What else can I say? I am happy to have shown that I can compete with the best both in the races and in qualifying, finding good setups, which bodes well for the future. During the season I have run into problems and also into a bit of bad luck, but all in all I feel that I have proven that I am a competitive driver. It goes without saying that I would like to win every single race, or at least to climb on the podium as often as possible, but the GP2 is full of other talented, passioned drivers who are not in the business of giving away gifts. Therefore, one must learn to take the good with the bad.
In a week the GP2 will stop in the United Arab Emirates for the last stage of the season. I am fond of the Yas Marina track, and as always I will face the challenge with a winning mentality. It would be great to end the season in style!
