ANOTHER NEGATIVE WEEKEND FOR MARCIELLO AND TEAM HTP-WINWARD IN THE ADAC GT MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP
It’s been a hectic period for Raffaele, who has raced every weekend since August. Last Friday he traveled to Sachsenring, where he joined Team HTP Winward and Swiss teammate Ellis for the fourth stage of the Adac GT Masters. The first three races have been disappointing for the team, which struggled to find the right pace to challenge their tough opponents. Therefore, the team opted for a few internal changes and a modified setup for the Mercedes AMG GT3 no 48. Marciello was partially satisfied with it, but Ellis had a hard time finding a good feeling with the car: a first step in the right direction, but still a lot of work ahead.
On Saturday morning, in the first qualifying session, Ellis finished fourth – a good result that raised the spirit of the team. In the afternoon’s race, however, Ellis went wide in a turn, damaged the splitter and slipped down to fifth. Marciello took the wheel with 30 minutes to go, but had to do a drive through because of a pit-stop violation (the no 48 left the pit-lane a tenth of a second too early). When he got back on the track the damaged splitter broke, forcing him to retire.
In Sunday’s qualifying (the most hard fought session due to the fact that the best drivers compete in it) Raffaele had to settle for 12th – yet another indication that the team still needs to work hard to make the car competitive. In the race the Ticino driver managed to avoid a tangle of cars and climbed up to ninth. Ellis then won more positions and finished fifth: a small consolation after a weekend filled with disappointment.
Marciello will now travel directly to Barcelona, where he will race in the last stage of the GT World Challenge Sprint on October 10-11.

CONTINUA LA SALITA NEL CAMPIONATO ADAC GT MASTERS: ALTRO WEEKEND NEGATIVO CON IL TEAM HTP‐WINWARD
Nuovo weekend e nuova corsa per Raffaele Marciello che da Agosto non si é mai fermato ed é stato impegnato in pista ogni fine settimana. Quello appena trascorso é stato il quarto appuntamento dell’Adac GT Masters presso il circuito del Sachsenring; Raffaele ne ha preso parte con il Team HTP Winward coadiuvando lo Svizzero Ellis. Ricordiamo che le prime tre corse effettuate dal Team HTP Winward sono state tutte in salita, non riuscendo a trovare il passo adatto a respingere l’agguerrita concorrenza del campionato. Per questo appuntamento alcune modifiche sono state apportate nell’organigramma del Team con la speranza di fornire una nuova linfa vincente ai due piloti.
Venerdì, nel corso delle prove libere, le modifiche apportate nella filosofia del set-up della Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 48, hanno parzialmente soddisfatto Marciello, mentre Ellis ha faticato maggiormente a trovare un buon feeling con il nuovo bilanciamento della vettura; nell’insieme un passo in avanti é stato svolto ma la condizione ottimale é risultata ancora lontana. Sabato mattina, nella prima prova di qualificazione valevole per la corsa del pomeriggio, Ellis si é piazzato in quarta posizione, ottimo risultato sia per il pilota che per l’umore del Team che ha preso fiducia nelle proprie capacità. Durante la partenza della gara nel pomeriggio, lo Svizzero Ellis é scivolato in quinta posizione, finendo largo in una curva e danneggiando lo splitter. Ellis ha poi mantenuto la medesima piazza per l’intera durata dello stint, per poi consegnare il volante a Marciello a circa trenta minuti dal termine. Raffaele, rientrato in pista dopo la sosta, ha però dovuto scontare un drive through per un infrazione commessa durante il pit-stop, essendo la Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 48 uscita dalla pit-lane prima del tempo minimo imposto da regolamento per un solo decimo di secondo. Compromesso ormai il risultato, Raffaele é rientrato nuovamente in pista, prima di essere costretto al ritiro a causa della rottura definitiva dello splitter inizialmente danneggiato da Ellis.
Domenica mattina si sono tenute le seconde prove di qualificazione, quelle più combattute in cui i piloti più competitivi scendono in pista: Marciello non é riuscito ad andare oltre la dodicesima posizione, a riprova del fatto che altro lavoro deve essere fatto dal Team per ottenere un miglioramento, essendo solito trovarsi di fronte agli avversari che solamente in questo campionato lo precedono. Nell’ultima gara del week-end, Marciello nelle fasi di partenza è riuscito ad evitare un groviglio di vetture davanti a lui portandosi in nona posizione, piazza che ha mantenuto sino a mezz’ora dal termine quando ha lasciato il volante a Ellis. Lo Svizzero ha poi chiuso in quinta posizione, magra soddisfazione dopo un week-end avaro di performance positive.
