It feels good to be on top
I feel happy and proud. Last weekend, in Austria, I climbed to the top of the GP2 championship standings – an excellent result that proves that hard work pays off. 66 points are not bad, but I hope they will be the first step toward more ambitious targets. I don’t like to make predictions, and promises even less, so I will let the track have the last word. I can say, however, that at the Red Bull Ring I have found the answers I was looking for: the car proved once again to be balanced and competitive. Could I have obtained a few more points? Maybe, but races are unpredictable by nature and one must learn to cope with this. I believe I have found a good race pace. I am showing great consistency and the fact that I have obtained points seven times out of eight demonstrates that I am on the right path. Grabbing points at every race is one of the keys of mounting a challenge in such a balanced championship, among a score of talented, fast opponents. So far so good, then, also considering I have obtained three third places. Now onwards to Silverstone (in a few days), where of course I will try everything to bring home a win!

In vetta alla classifica
Sono felice e orgoglioso! Il weekend austriaco mi ha permesso di raggiungere la vetta della classifica della GP2, un risultato eccellente e che mi ripaga del lavoro svolto finora. I 66 punti conquistati sono tanti, ma devono essere considerati solo il primo passo verso traguardi ancora più importanti. Non mi piace fare pronostici e nemmeno promesse, preferisco parli la pista e quindi non aggiungo altro… Comunque sia, anche il Red Bull Ring mi ha dato le risposte che mi aspettavo: la macchina si è confermata ben bilanciata e assolutamente competitiva. Potevo fare qualche punto in più? Forse, ma le gare, si sa, sono spesso imprevedibili e bisogna sapersi accontentare, Dal canto mio, credo di aver trovato un buon passo. Sto dimostrando grande regolarità ed essere andato a punti in 7 occasioni su 8 è senza dubbio un bel segnale di solidità. Un campionato così equilibrato e ricco di talenti e piloti velocissimi si vince anche entrando sempre, o quasi, in zona punti. Per ora è andata bene e ho pure centrato tre terzi posti. Avanti così, puntando ovviamente alla vittoria già a partire da Silverstone, tra pochi giorni.
