NLS3 – NURBURGRING
LAST RACE IN PREPARATION FOR THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS
Last weekend Marciello was back on the track at Nordschleife for his first race as the official ambassador of BTW – the lead brand in water treatment systems. The Mercedes flag-carrier took part in the NLS3 (Nurburgring Langstrecken Series), a tailor-made competition that allows drivers to get familiar with the track in preparation for June’s Nürburgring 24 Hours.
On Friday, Marciello and teammates Juncadella and Götz tested Team Getspeed’s fluorescent Mercedes AMG GT3 no. 2 in a series of private sessions. The typical Nurburgring icy weather made life hard for the drivers, who struggled to keep the tires hot. On Saturday, the no. 2 finished 13th in qualifying and Marciello started the race without losing any positions, finishing his stint in 12th. Juncadella, up next, entered the fray in 14th and managed to climb back to 11th. Götz got back on the track in 15th and completed 7 laps before handing the wheel back to Juncadella, who, being the least familiar with the track, needed more race time. The Spaniard finished the race in 13h, the same spot the no. 2 started the race from.
With the NLS3 in the rear view mirror, Marciello can now look forward to the real test: June’s 24H. In the meantime, his season goes on, and he will be racing again next weekend at the first stage of the World Challenge Sprint at Magny Course.

ULTIMA GARA IN PREPARAZIONE DELLA 24H DEL NURBURGRING
Raffaele Marciello é tornato in pista questo weekend presso il tracciato del Nordschleife. Il portacolori Mercedes-AMG, fresco di una nuova collaborazione con il marchio leader nei sistemi di trattamento dell’acqua, BWT, che lo vede ambassador del marchio , é stato impegnato nel NLS3 (Nurburgring Langstrecken Series).
Come da abitudine, queste competizioni sul lungo tracciato del Nurburgring, non sono altro che dei veri e propri banchi prova in preparazione all’estenuante 24H che si correrà ad inizio Giugno.
Il Ticinese Marciello é sceso in pista sin dal Venerdì per una sessione di test privati, coadiuvato dai compagni di equipaggio Götz e Juncadella a bordo della fluorescente Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 2 del Team Getspeed. Senza stupore, dato ciò a cui ci ha abituati il Nurburgring, l’intera giornata di test é stata caratterizzata da un freddo quasi glaciale che ha molto impegnato i piloti a mantenere gli pneumatici in temperatura. La giornata di Sabato ha visto le prove di qualificazione sin dal primo mattino, con la Mercedes AMG del Team Getspeed che si é piazzata in tredicesima posizione. La parte iniziale della gara ha visto Marciello al volante che ha mantenuto la posizione di partenza. A circa un’ora dal via, Raffaele ha lasciato il volante a Juncadella in dodicesima posizione. Lo spagnolo, rientrato in quattordicesima piazza ha chiuso il proprio turno di guida in undicesima piazza, prima di lasciare il volante a Gotz. Il Tedesco, rientrato in quindicesima piazza, ha guidato per i propri sette giri prima di lasciare nuovamente il posto a Juncadella, più bisognoso di percorrere chilometri sul Nordschleife. Lo spagnolo ha chiuso la corsa in tredicesima posizione, stessa piazza di partenza.
Terminata questa importante gara-test, ultima prima della 24H del Nurburgring, Marciello tornerà in pista già il prossimo weekend per il primo appuntamento del GT World Challenge Sprint presso il circuito di Magny Course.
