BITTER RETIREMENT FOR MARCIELLO AT THE 24 HOURS OF NÜRBURGRING
Raffaele Marciello’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring came to a premature end after a disappointing retirement while racing for BMW in one of endurance racing’s most iconic events, held on the legendary Nürburgring circuit, also known as the “Green Hell.” Lello shared the BMW with Augusto Farfus, Jordan Pepper, and Kelvin van der Linde. The crew started the race carrying the number reserved for the defending champions following their victory in the 2025 edition.
The weekend had begun with promising signs for the German team’s car, which immediately showed strong pace on the demanding Nordschleife layout. The opening hours of the race were marked by changing weather conditions, heavy traffic, and several incidents, factors that made one of the world’s toughest endurance races even more selective.
The #1 BMW remained among the frontrunners during the early stages, with the drivers regularly rotating behind the wheel while trying to stay in contention for a major result. However, as the hours passed, a technical problem ultimately compromised the race, forcing the team to retire.
It was a bitter ending for Marciello and the entire squad, who arrived at Nürburgring aiming to defend the success achieved the previous year. The disappointment remains, especially because the race was not ended by an on-track mistake, but by a technical issue that destroyed the ambitions of an exceptionally strong lineup.
Also fighting near the front was the #3 Mercedes-AMG, which featured Max Verstappen taking part during his weekend away from Formula 1.

La 24 Ore del Nürburgring si è conclusa anzitempo per Raffaele Marciello, impegnato con la BMW ufficiale in una delle più classiche 24 ore, sul mitico circuito Nürbugring , chiamato anche l’inferno verde. Lello ha condiviso la BMW insieme ad Augusto Farfus, Jordan Pepper e Kelvin van der Linde. L’equipaggio si presentava al via con il numero riservato ai vincitori in carica, dopo il successo conquistato nell’edizione 2025.
Il weekend era iniziato con segnali positivi per la vettura del team tedesco, subito competitiva sul difficile tracciato della Nordschleife. Le prime ore di gara sono state caratterizzate da condizioni meteo variabili, traffico intenso e numerosi incidenti, elementi che hanno reso ancora più selettiva una delle corse endurance più dure al mondo.
La BMW #1 è rimasta nel gruppo dei protagonisti durante la fase iniziale, alternando regolarmente i propri piloti alla guida e cercando di restare in corsa per un risultato importante. Con il passare delle ore, però, un problema tecnico ha compromesso definitivamente la gara dell’equipaggio, costringendo il team al ritiro.
Un epilogo amaro per Marciello e per tutta la squadra, che arrivavano al Nürburgring con l’obiettivo di difendere il successo ottenuto l’anno precedente. Resta il rammarico per una gara interrotta non per un errore in pista, ma per un inconveniente tecnico che ha cancellato le ambizioni di un equipaggio di altissimo livello.
Nelle posizioni di vertici presente anche la Mercedes AMG numero 3, sulla quale partecipava anche Max Verstappen nel suo weekend libero dalla Formula 1.
