MARCIELLO CROWNED CHAMPION OF THE GT WORLD CHALLENGE ENDURANCE
After a long season, Marciello and teammates Boguslavskiy and Gounon arrived at the last stage of the GTWC Endurance sitting at the top of the standings, with a 18 points advantage over their BMW Eng rivals Yelloly and Wittmann.
After a day of tests on Friday, the trio worked at the set up of Team Akkodis’ Mercedes AMG GT3 no 88 during Saturday’s free sessions, and were satisfied with the performance of the car. On Sunday’s qualifying, Marciello drove in the first session, while Gounon and Boguslavskiy took charge of Q2 and Q3. Their average times placed the no 88 on the ninth spot on the starting grid.
In the three hour race that followed, Marciello went immediately on the attack and was already in fifth at the end of the first lap. He then won another position before seeing his comeback cut short by a full course yellow. After an hour, he went back to the box and handed the wheel to Boguslavskiy. The Russian got on the track in third and focused more on keeping his chasers at bay than attacking the Ferrari in front. Then, a strategic choice by the race engineer saw the Russian complete one extra lap before passing the baton to Gounon. The Frenchman got on the track in fifth after the pit stop and could not gain any positions, also because of another full course yellow. He finished fifth, which was enough to crown the Marciello-Boguslavskiy-Gounon trio champions of the Endurance series.
After this well-deserved triumph, Marciello will set his sight on the Sprint title (he is currently first in the standings) and therefore also on the Overall title (which includes both the Sprint and Endurance series).
Raffaele will now travel to the US to join Team Craft Bamboo and teammates Gotz and Gounon, and race in the American stage of the Intercontinental GT (an 8h Endurance race).

MARCIELLO CAMPIONE DEL GT WORLD CHALLENGE ENDURANCE
Dopo una lunga stagione, si è giunti all’ultimo appuntamento del GTWC Endurance presso il tracciato di Barcellona. Raffaele Marciello, assieme ai compagni Boguslavskiy e Gounon, ha dato inizio al weekend di corse come leader in campionato Endurance con diciotto lunghezze di vantaggio sugli avversari di casa BMW Eng, Yelloly e Wittmann.
Dopo una prima giornata di test privati il Venerdì, i lavori sono proseguiti il Sabato con ulteriori sessioni di prove libere dove la Mercedes AMG GT3 numero 88 del Team Akkodis è parsa competitiva. Domenica mattina, i motori si sono accesi per le prove di qualificazione che hanno visto rispettivamente Marciello, Gounon e Boguslavskiy guidare nelle Q1, Q2 e Q3. La media fatta segnare dai tre tempi ha portato ad un risultato complessivo pari alla nona piazza di partenza.
Nella gara, dalla durata di tre ore, il via é stato preso dal Ticinese che sin dalle prime tornate ha cercato di recuperare quanto più terreno possibile rispetto la testa della corsa e al primo giro era già in quinta posizione. Nel proseguo della prima ora di gara, é riuscito a portarsi in quarta posizione prima di vedere bloccata la sua rimonta da una full course yellow. Dopo nemmeno un’ora dal via, Marciello é rientrato ai box lasciando il volante al Russo Boguslavskiy che é rientrato in terza posizione ed ha condotto la propria intera ora di guida mantenendo la posizione, perdendo sì terreno dalla Ferrari in seconda piazza ma arginando gli esperti avversari alle spalle e svolgendo perfettamente il compito a lui richiesto. Ad un’ora dal termine il volante é passato a Gounon che é rientrato in pista in quinta posizione a causa di un giro in più, prima del pit stop, effettuato rispetto agli avversari come scelta strategica dell’ingegnere di gara. Il Francese ha dato il massimo ma complice anche una lunga full course yellow non ha potuto recuperare posizioni chiudendo così in quinta posizione e portando dunque a casa la vittoria assoluto in campionato nella serie Endurance per il trio Marciello-Boguslavskiy-Gounon.
Dopo questo meritatissimo traguardo, Marciello potrà successivamente ambire alla vittoria anche del titolo Sprint, in cui è in testa in campionato, è di conseguenza anche del titolo Overall che considera l’unione delle serie Sprint ed Endurance.
Terminato questo appuntamento, Marciello sarà immediatamente chiamato a prendere parte all’appuntamento Americano dell’Intercontinental GT presso il tracciato di Indianapolis, dove correrà la gara Endurance di 8H assieme ai compagni Gotz e Gounon a bordo della Mercedes AMG GT3 del Team Craft Bamboo.
