RAFFAELE MARCIELLO SHINES AS A PROTAGONIST AND ENDS 2025 GT WORLD CHALLENGE SEASON ON THE PODIUM
Raffaele Marciello wrapped up the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS season with an impressive comeback to claim an overall podium finish and a class win. The Swiss driver took part in the final round at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya alongside teammates Augusto Farfus and Jesse Krohn, driving the #98 BMW M4 GT3 EVO for Rowe Racing in the PRO category. The team arrived in Spain with 49 points in the Endurance Cup standings, unfortunately no longer in contention for the title.
As in previous rounds, the starting grid was determined by the combined qualifying times of all three drivers. Marciello took part in the third qualifying session, setting a time of 1:40.274, placing the team 19th on the starting grid.
Farfus took the start and delivered a strong opening stint, climbing up to 12th overall before the safety car was deployed. During the neutralization period, the car was handed over to Krohn, who gained further ground by pitting earlier than rivals and moving up to seventh. The Finnish driver continued his charge, reaching fifth overall and second in the PRO class before handing the car to Raffaele Marciello for the final hour of the race.
The 30-year-old GT champion showed his trademark speed and racecraft, first taking the lead in the PRO class and then climbing into second place overall with a series of spectacular overtakes. However, the McLaren at the front—benefitting from an extremely favorable Balance of Performance (BoP)—proved untouchable.
In the closing laps, Marciello strategically dropped back to third, following team orders from BMW to support their sister team WRT in securing the Overall title. The result earned Rowe Racing 15 more points, finishing the Endurance Cup in fifth place overall with a total of 64 points. In the drivers’ standings, Marciello claimed fourth place with 60 points.
Next up for Marciello is the Indianapolis 8 Hour, the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, before heading to Bahrain for the season finale of the World Endurance Championship, where he will compete in BMW’s hypercar.

Si è conclusa con il podio assoluto in rimonta e la vittoria di classe la stagione 2025 del GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS di Raffaele Marciello. Il pilota
elvetico ha preso parte alla tappa finale sul circuito di Barcellona insieme ai suoi compagni Augusto Farfus e Jesse Krohn a bordo della BMW M4 GT3 EVO #98 del
team Rowe Racing, competendo in categoria PRO. Il team è arrivato in terra catalana con un bottino di 49 punti nella classifica riservata alla serie endurance,
sfortunatamente esclusi dalla lotta al titolo.
Come nei precedenti appuntamenti, la griglia di partenza è stata stilata dai tempi combinati dei tre membri dell’equipaggio. Marciello ha disputato la terza sessione di qualifiche registrando il tempo di 1:40.274, valido per la 19° posizione sulla griglia.
La partenza è stata affidata a Farfus, il quale è stato autore di un’ottima prima fase di gara che lo ha portato in 12° piazza assoluta, prima dell’ingresso in pista della safety car. Durante il periodo della neutralizzazione la vettura è passata a Krohn, salito poi al settimo posto grazie a una sosta anticipata rispetto ai rivali. Il finlandese ha
raggiunto la quinta posizione assoluta, seconda di classe PRO, prima di lasciare il volante a Raffaele Marciello per l’ultima ora di gara. Il trentenne campione GT ha messo in luce tutta la sua competitività, conquistando dapprima la testa della classifica riservata agli equipaggi PRO e successivamente il podio in classifica assoluta, salendo fino alla seconda posizione con degli spettacolari sorpassi. La McLaren in vetta alla classifica assoluta, grazie ad un B.o.P. (Balance of Performance) estremamente favorevole, è tuttavia risultata imprendibile.
Sul finale Marciello è sceso nuovamente in terza posizione, seguendo l’ordine
imposto da BMW per permettere ai compagni di casa WRT di laurearsi campioni Overall della serie, conquistando ulteriori 15 punti in campionato, che si è concluso con il quinto posto in classifica endurance per il team Rowe Racing con 64 lunghezze totali. In classifica piloti Lello ha conquistato invece il quarto posto con 60 punti. Il prossimo appuntamento per Marciello sarà la 8 ore di Indianapolis, atto conclusivo dell’Intercontinental GT Challenge per volare poi alla volta del Bahrain, in occasione della tappa conclusiva del World Endurance Championship a bordo della hypercar di BMW.
