THRILLING VICTORY FOR RAFFAELE MARCIELLO AT THE NÜRBURGRING
The 2025 GT World Challenge Europe – powered by AWS – made its stop in Germany at the Nürburgring circuit for the fourth endurance round of the season. As in the first three races, Raffaele Marciello took the wheel of the #98 BMW M4 GT3 EVO for Rowe Racing, alongside teammates Augusto Farfus and Jesse Krohn. Together, they earned 20 points in the drivers’ standings, thanks in part to a fifth-place finish at the 24 Hours of Spa. The team competes in the Pro category.
Marciello took on the third and final qualifying session, setting a lap time of 1:53.773. Combined with his teammates’ times, this placed the team second overall – just 0.020 seconds off the best performance. However, a penalty for the leading team promoted the #98 car to the top of the standings, securing pole position for the 3 Hours of Nürburgring.
Farfus managed the start brilliantly, maintaining the lead despite a long safety car phase that erased the gap the Finnish driver had built in the opening laps. Krohn took over from Farfus and briefly lost the lead due to rival teams’ strategies. He remained close behind the leader throughout the middle stint, waiting for Marciello to take the wheel and bring the race home.
A full-course yellow came just as Raffaele was set to jump in, allowing the Swiss driver to start his stint from first place. Marciello once again showcased his incredible pace, pulling out a 4-second gap over the closest competitor. “Lello” crossed the finish line as the winner, claiming both his first win and first podium of the 2025 GT World Challenge – Endurance Cup season.
Thanks to the victory, Marciello earned 25 points, jumping to fourth in the endurance drivers’ standings with a total of 45 points. The next and final round of the championship will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on October 12, 2025.
ESALTANTE VITTORIA PER RAFFAELE MARCIELLO AL NURBURGRING
Il 2025 del GT World Challenge Europe – powered by AWS ha fatto tappa in Germania sul circuito del Nürburgring per il quarto appuntamento endurance stagionale. Come nelle prime tre gare, Raffaele Marciello è salito al volante della BMW M4 GT3 EVO #98 del team Rowe Racing insieme ad Augusto Farfus e Jesse Krohn, con i quali ha conquistato 20 punti nella classifica piloti grazie anche al quinto posto ottenuto alla 24 ore di Spa. Il team è iscritto nella categoria Pro.
Marciello ha affrontato la terza e ultima fase di qualifica, registrando un tempo di 1:53.773 che, combinato ai tempi del suoi compagni, ha portato il team in seconda posizione assoluta a soli 20 millesimi dalla miglior prestazione. Una penalità per il leader ha tuttavia portato la vettura #98 in cima alla classifica, facendole conquistare la pole position per la 3 ore del Nürburgring.
Farfus ha gestito brillantemente la partenza, mantenendo la testa della corsa nonostante una lunga fase di safety car che ha annullato il vantaggio che il finlandese aveva creato nei primi passaggi. Dopo Farfus, è stato il turno di Krohn, che ha temporaneamente perso la prima posizione a causa della strategia dei rivali. Il finlandese è rimasto per tutta la fase centrale della gara alle spalle del leader, in attesa che Marciello potesse salire in macchina per concludere la corsa. Una full course yellow arrivata proprio nell’istante in cui Raffaele doveva ereditare il volante della BMW #98 ha permesso all’elvetico di iniziare il proprio stint dalla prima posizione. Marciello ha dimostrato ancora una volta l’incredibile passo di cui il Ticinese dispone, costruendo un distacco di 4 secondi sul primo degli inseguitori. Lello ha così tagliato il traguardo da vincitore, conquistando la prima vittoria e il primo podio stagionale nel GT World Challenge – Endurance Cup 2025.
Grazie alla vittoria, Marciello ha conquistato ben 25 punti, balzando al quarto posto nella classifica piloti riservata alle gare di durata con 45 punti totali. Il prossimo appuntamento sarà il round conclusivo del campionato, sul circuito catalano di Barcellona il 12 ottobre 2025.
